Access to funding helps students develop specialist skills. Through the Vice-Chancellor’s & Student Development Fund, Keira completed a Haute Couture embroidery course that enhanced her dissertation project.

¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower supports student wellbeing and successful transitions into university life. Through access to student support services, including counselling and wellbeing programmes, Veronica was able to overcome challenges, settle into university life and thrive in a new environment.

¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower opens doors to funding, opportunities and practical support that help students turn ideas into reality and develop real-world experience. Through ¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower, James accessed vital funding that enabled him to turn his creative ideas into action and launch the Gateway Writing Festival.

Accessible, inclusive support is central to ¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower. Through ¾«¶«´«Ã½’s Disability Service, Charlotte received tailored guidance and advocacy that helped remove barriers to learning and enabled her to reach her full potential.

Gaining a global outlook is a key part of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower experience. Through an international exchange, Badri developed independence, confidence and new perspectives by living and studying abroad.

¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower gives students the flexibility and support to design learning that fits their ambitions. Through the Student-Initiated Module, Rhona worked collaboratively to develop a creative project that evolved into Mary: A Gig Theatre Show, which she performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

¾«¶«´«Ã½ empowers students to take ownership of their learning and career development. By securing a project-based Master’s thesis, Jeremy gained hands-on consultancy experience with a professional sports organisation and built confidence for life beyond ¾«¶«´«Ã½.

Hands-on industry experience is at the core of ¾«¶«´«Ã½Empower. Through opportunities like his placement with The Scotsman during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Quinn gained real-world filmmaking and media production experience, helping him build confidence, professional skills and clarity about his future career.

By embracing a range of experiences during his degree, from ambassador roles to student societies and industry events, Adrian built a diverse skills portfolio that supported his professional growth and leadership career.
